POORVI SHAH

Chief Executive Officer

She has over ten years of experience with The Akanksha Foundation in various capacity including student enrichment, leadership development, recruitment, induction, teacher training, donor reporting, fundraising, writing grants, award proposals, and Annual Report.

As Director for Student Enrichment, Poorvi focused on character and life skills development in students. She oversaw the Career Resource Center, Mentor Program, scholarships, alumni engagement, and leadership programs for youth such as Learning To Lead and Service Learning. This involved program design and review, research, planning, budgeting, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and impact.

Poorvi as well as her students and alumni have represented Akanksha in various forums such as UN global forum (WASH), RISE Round Table, InspirED, Youth Leadership Conferences, and Common Purpose. She has also been a jury for Social Innovation Awards at IIT’s Techfest.

Poorvi was previously with Price Waterhouse LLP, NY from 1994 to 1996 where she was handling audits of Indian mutual funds registered offshore and then with Indocean Venture Capital and IndAsia Fund Advisors, Bombay, one of the first venture capital firms in India from 1996 to 2000. Poorvi has also served on the Board of Bombay International School Association for two years with one year as the Chairperson. Poorvi has done her B.Com., MMS (Finance) and MBA (International Business).

Poorvi is passionate about equity in education and empowerment and enjoys meeting people from all walks of life.


ANJALI HARI

Director – Fundraising & Partnership

Endowed with a strong track record in programme implementation, communication, and entrepreneurship, Anjali transitioned into the social sector in 2006 as the Program Director to implement the unique Katalyst programme of Thirds sector Partners. Here, she has successfully leveraged on her diverse experience and passion to transform the lives of meritorious girls from underprivileged backgrounds and make a significant difference at the grassroots level. Anjali was responsible for the enrolment of deserving students, fundraising, event management, partnering with colleges and corporate, and planning and executing various interventions such as soft skill and hard skill training, mentor program, internships, and placements. Anjali has been a pillar of support for the Katalyst girls, especially in Mumbai and Pune.

Previously, Anjali was in Client servicing in the Advertising Agencies for seven years. Later, she worked with Modi Xerox to promote Photo Copiers in the institution segment. After two years she became the Development Manager and was responsible to set up photo finishing labs for Lazor QSS in collaboration with Kodak. For 11 years, she was associated as a concessionaire for Hindustan Unilever Ltd as Manager Operations for their beverages.

Anjali completed her Economics major from Elphinstone College, Mumbai University, followed by a Diploma in Marketing Management from Mumbai University.

Anjali is candid, rooted to the ground, and empathetic. Among her other diverse interests are Travel, Wildlife, Reading, and Music.


SHALIMA JAIN

Chief Operating Officer

Shalima had a dynamic corporate career of over 18+ years that reflects rich experience & year-on-year success in Operations, Projects & Delivery Management in Retail and Development sector. Started her career as a design coordinator and then had a very enriching growth journey to become Operations Manager in Retail Design. She has visited different countries across Europe and Asia for onsite training, due diligence, stakeholder meetings, and project closure. Transitioned many complex processes and ran the operations to successfully deliver the organisation’s goals and KPIs.

Problem solver with a passion for technology and skills in grasping the big picture and conceptualizing & applying appropriate technology/mix of technologies that meet business needs while minimizing risks. She has a passion for working on Financial Freedom for Women and has worked on various projects during her corporate Journey. Currently, she is the Program Manager for Katalyst Bangalore.


MEGHA VERMA

Head – International Partnerships

Megha holds an MBA degree with a specialization in Finance and has an extensive 15 years of experience in managing programs and operations for the social sector. She has been trained by the Ministry of Railways (Project Management Advisor) to enhance her project management skills. Her core skills are program management & implementation, program monitoring, strategy planning, and creative mindset.

Before joining Katalyst, Megha worked with four leading NGOs and boosted her innovative and creative skills moderately. In her previous experience, she has worked with project partners and carried out stakeholder management, program monitoring, human resource development, budgeting, fund planning, and auditing of partners funds.

As a professional, she can initiate/manage cross-functional teams and multi-disciplinary projects. She is always keen on working for social innovations, traveling for a cause, collaborating, and synergizing.

Megha also enjoys networking and rapport building, solving puzzles, and reading books.


AARTI NATHAN

Head – Digitization & US Relations

Aarti has around 19 years of experience in the IT Industry working with different technologies and domains. She has led Engineering teams of developers, QA, and support in Services and Product companies. She has also handled Operations, HR, Recruitment, and Admin in various organizations.

Before joining Katalyst, Aarti was working for over 4 years with Zettics as Head of Engineering and India Centre Operations, a Boston (USA) based telecom software product company. She started her professional career with Persistent Systems in 2000 and worked with them for 14 years, both in India and the USA. She managed large Engineering teams for marque tech MNCs, and, setup tools and processes to achieve productivity and efficiency metrics.

Aarti has done her Bachelors of Engineering in Computer Science from Pune University in 2000. She is passionate about mentoring young talent and committed to helping create more women leaders. She loves meeting and interacting with people. She also likes to travel and different forms of fine art.


SHWETA MATHUR

Program Manager, Mumbai

Shweta has 20 years of work experience across social, corporate, and educational institutes.

Before joining Katalyst, She worked with the Tata Institute of Social Sciences-SVE as a Business Development & CSR Manager for the various skill courses offered to the youth to make them employable. She was also a trainer for the Early Childhood Development vertical at SVE.

She has been part of the visiting faculty at the PG Department of SNDT Women’s University and Dr. BMN College in Mumbai for over 8 years. She has worked with Kotak Education Foundation (KEF), Mumbai as a consultant/trainer for their school training initiatives. She has managed projects, annual training sessions, and documentation at government organisations like NIPCCD and NIEPA in Delhi.

Her corporate stint of about 5 years was at J.P. Morgan India Services Pvt. Ltd., Mumbai, and HSBC Bank, Sheffield, UK. She has done her Masters in Human Development from SNDT Women’s University, Mumbai, and Diploma in Business Management from ICFAI University, Tripura.

Her hobbies include music, theatre, and reading.


AYESHA KHAN

Program Manager, Delhi

Ayesha Khan is a self-driven, hardworking, and motivated social worker. She has completed her Master’s degree in Social Work from Jamia Millia Islamia, Delhi. She has also specialized in training in the Development sector. Before this, she was the Centre Head at NIIT Foundation. She loves travelling and meeting new people.

Ayesha believes that change happens when people are given the guidance they need to draw on their strengths and realize their potential to live fulfilling happy lives. Ayesha provides an environment of compassion and support to Katalyst girls to overcome obstacles and move forward.

At Katalyst, she is providing continual elevation and transformation of young women from low-income communities to lead change in their professional and personal spheres of life.


MEHAK KANDA

Manager – Pune Program & Technology

Mehak has over 8 years of comprehensive experience in the areas of Business Intelligence/Analysis, Technology and Scenario Planning, People’s Skills, and Stakeholder Management.

Started her career as a project engineer with Wipro Technologies, She has touched and dived into the various avenues like Procurement Leader for High-end IT Software infrastructures (Middle East), Certified Lead Auditor for ISO 9001:2015.

She is passionate about building the next generation of women leaders. Through Katalyst, she got the opportunity to influence people for the things that excite her.

Outside of her work life, she is committed to her family, friends, and living a holistic life.


STEFFI C.T.

Assistant Program Manager, Bangalore

Steffi is a Master’s degree holder in Social Work from Nirmala Niketan College of Social Work Mumbai Having worked with different Child Right Organization for the past 4 years she understood the need for higher education in the country, she believes that education is an answer to eradicate poverty. Steffi, joined Katalyst in 2016, as an Assistant Program Manager.

In her free time, she travels and has a special interest in Baking.


SHRAVANTHI SURESH

Program Coordinator, Bangalore

Shravanthi has done her Bachelor’s degree in Humanities from Mount Carmel College, Bengaluru, and is a Master’s degree holder in Social Work from St. Joseph’s College, Bengaluru. She has worked in the education sector for the period 2 years as Assistant Professor.

She believes in the empowerment of youth through education. She enjoys reading books, listening to music, exploring new places, trying out different cuisines, and holds great passion for volunteering.


ANJU MASKE

Program Coordinator, Pune

Anju has done her Bachelor’s in Management Studies degree from Mumbai University in 2014. She is passionate about learning new things.

She has 6 years of experience in the Social sector. Before joining Katalyst, she was working with Global Vision Cancer Care NGO as a Senior Co-ordinator in the fundraising department and was later working with Intelenet Global Services Pvt Ltd. as a Senior Executive.

She’s willing to learn, patient, honest, is a good listener, and possesses a ‘Never Say No’ attitude. In her downtime, she likes listening to music and cooking.


PAVANI SURESH

Program Coordinator, Bangalore

Pavani holds a Masters of Science degree in Sociological Research from the University of Manchester, United Kingdom, and a Bachelors in triple major – Psychology, Sociology, and Economics from Mount Carmel College, Bengaluru. She was the student head for the Teaching and Learning Committee at the University of Manchester.

She is an international level trekker being a recipient of the Gold Award at the Duke of Edinburgh/International Award for Young People, in the field of swimming, art, social service, and adventure sports.

She has completed her dissertation concerning Migration Studies and Cultural Adaptation and has been a part of rural and urban development projects in Bengaluru. She organised medical camps in rural West Bengal and has been a part of the Waste Management Campaign in Cianjur, Java Indonesia.

She believes in the empowerment of youth by encouraging them to utilise their knowledge in the practical world.
Her hobbies include painting, photography, listening to music, and playing different instruments.


GAYATRI TAMBEKAR

Program Coordinator, Pune

Gayatri completed her Bachelor’s in Commerce from Pune University in 2018. She then went on to study Master’s in Social Work with HR as her specialization.

Before joining Katalyst she has interned with TVS Lucas and Electronica Plastic Machines Ltd. She has organised and coordinated several fests and conferences in her graduation years. In her free time, she likes to hike, read, and bake.


AVILA D’SOUZA

Administrative Officer

Avila graduated with Bachelor’s in Economics from Wilson College, Mumbai University. Avila works as an Administrative Officer for Thirds sector Partners and its social initiative Katalyst. Before this, Avila worked with LJ Hooker, an Australian Real Estate as a Business System Officer for 2 years and with CRY as a Telecaller for Individual fundraising for 6 months.

Avila enjoys Traveling, loves cooking, and listens to country music.


ANUSHKA SHARAN

MarComm Associate

Anushka holds a BMM degree with an Advertising major from St. Xavier’s College (Autonomous), Mumbai. Her core skill includes creativity and communication.

Before joining Katalyst, she worked as a freelance graphic designer and content curator for a few clients and a digital marketing firm. In college, she was the Organiser of the Creatives department of Malhar – the intercollegiate festival, for two years in a row. In school, she was the recipient of the Sister Jayashree Memorial Award, which is given to a student for their outstanding performance in academics and extra-curricular activities.

Holder of a Senior Diploma in Kathak, she enjoys dancing, singing, and playing music.
